The Korea Securities Depository reported on the 15th that the electronic registration issuance of bonds and certificates of deposit (CDs) in the first half of this year (January to June) was recorded at 314.3 trillion won. This is an increase of 18.8% compared to the same period last year (January to June 2024).
The issuance of bonds was 279.7 trillion won, which is an increase of 16.8% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the issuance of CDs surged by 38.4% to 34.6 trillion won.
By type, financial bonds and special bonds accounted for 31.8% (99.9 trillion won) and 31% (97.4 trillion won), respectively. This was followed by general corporate bonds at 15.3% (48.2 trillion won), CDs at 11% (34.6 trillion won), and asset-backed SPC bonds at 5.4% (16.9 trillion won).
