The Industrial Bank of Korea announced on the 14th that it will invest 10 billion won in FuriosaAI, a domestic artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor design corporation.
The Industrial Bank of Korea has recognized FuriosaAI's technological capabilities and growth potential from the early stages of its founding, providing tailored financial support ranging from startup loans to venture capital investment and technology financing.
A representative from the Industrial Bank of Korea noted, "AI semiconductors are emerging as key technologies in the global market alongside the expansion of generative AI," adding, "FuriosaAI is a corporation that rejected acquisition offers from major U.S. tech companies and is pushing to develop and produce AI chips independently."
The Industrial Bank of Korea expects that this strategic investment will contribute to securing semiconductor competitiveness and the leap forward of the domestic AI semiconductor industry.
Meanwhile, the Industrial Bank of Korea has supplied a total of 2.5 trillion won in venture capital over three years starting in 2023 to foster and develop high-potential growth venture startups.
