Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance stated on the 18th that it has expanded the application range of the treatment cost special contract for cancer, brain, and heart diseases to include its main health insurance and simple insurance.
This expansion of the special contract follows the high response from customers to the treatment cost special contract first applied in the new health insurance product "Coverage Account," launched in May. More than 80% of customers enrolled in "Coverage Account" chose this special contract, leading Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance to expand its application to major product lines based on customer needs and field feedback.
The new special contract offers more refined coverage for major diseases, focusing on treatment at general hospitals. Cancer-related coverage includes cancer, metastatic cancer, 10 major cancers, surgeries reclassified as non-reimbursable, chemotherapy, radiation, and chemotherapy drug treatment, while for brain and heart diseases, coverage has been detailed by severity and treatment methods, including surgeries, thrombolysis treatment, and thrombectomy for cerebrovascular disease, ischemic heart disease, stroke, and acute myocardial infarction. This has enhanced the customers' practical sense of coverage.
The most significant feature of the special contract is its structure of coverage, which allows for a maximum of up to three annual coverages for each treatment action, rather than the previous annual single coverage. In particular, for high-risk diseases with a high probability of re-treatment, such as metastatic cancer, a separate collateral has been set up to minimize coverage gaps.
A representative from Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance noted, "The key is that we designed it to ensure that coverage does not stop, reflecting the nature of serious illnesses that require repeated treatment," adding, "We will continue to meet customer trust through effective health and simple insurance centered on practical coverage."
