Kiwoom Securities said it has provided a total of 100 million won in scholarships to support the stable academic lives of 50 college students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
On the afternoon of the previous day, scholarship certificates for the 2025 first semester donation scholarships were awarded at the Kiwoom Securities headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul. Participants included CEO Um Joo-seong, Baek Byeong-il, chairman of the Korea Scholarship Foundation, and the scholarship recipients.
The Korea Scholarship Foundation selected 50 college students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds with excellent grades to receive living expense scholarships of 2 million won each, funded by a 100 million won donation from Kiwoom Securities.
This scholarship support is the second time following last year. Fifty college students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, including people with disabilities, refugees, youth preparing for independence, single-parent families, student heads of family, and multicultural families, were able to concentrate on their studies with the assistance of living expenses.
Kiwoom Securities plans to provide an additional 100 million won in scholarships this year for the second semester to support the academic pursuits of college students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
The scholarship support for college students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds by Kiwoom Securities is part of the 'Kiwoom and Sharing for Tomorrow' campaign that has been ongoing since last year. Kiwoom Securities aims to contribute to solving social issues through various community service activities that promote a culture of sharing.
CEO Um Joo-seong noted, "Kiwoom Securities will continue to engage in various community service activities aimed at actively contributing to solving social issues."
