A meeting was held to share cases of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data utilization among banks, insurance companies, and corporations.
The heads of AI and big data departments from Hana Bank, Hanwha Life, and Toss attended the panel discussion of ChosunBiz's '2025 Future Finance Forum' held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 29th, and noted, "Innovations can be realized and new services can be developed through AI and big data utilization."
The panel discussion held under the theme 'Future strategies for finance based on AI and big data' featured Professor Park Nam-kyu from Seoul National University, Director General Seo Il-sik from Hana Bank, Head of Team Jeon Gyeong-won from Hanwha Life, and Head of Team Woo Chi-soo from Toss as panelists.
The panel participants introduced each company's cases of AI utilization and competitive enhancement. Hana Bank plans to introduce a currency exchange rate prediction service in its Hana Card Travel Log application (app). Director General Seo said, "AI is developing a model to predict exchange rates by learning data," and added, "We are preparing the service with the aim of helping customers determine the timing of currency exchange."
Head of Team Jeon stated, "Internally, insurance consultants are able to quickly find information through AI, and customers experience faster claim payment processes, leading to higher satisfaction."
Head of Team Woo mentioned, "Based on the unique data held by Toss, alternative credit assessment has become possible," and explained, "In January this year, Toss and Gyeongnam Bank launched a product that provides loans to new graduates based on this alternative credit assessment."
That day, the audience showed deep interest in the discussion by sending over 30 questions to the panelists. One audience member asked, "What are the urgent legal and ethical issues in the era of AI universalization?" In response, Professor Park emphasized, "Korea has not yet established a mature system related to AI ethics, and it is a matter for national consideration."
