Philoptics, a corporation specializing in semiconductor and display equipment, announced on the 27th that it has supplied TGV (Through Glass Via) equipment to overseas global clients. The client is not disclosed due to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), but Philoptics states that it is a key global corporation in the glass substrate industry. The company expects to strengthen its position in the glass substrate market through this supply.
Philoptics has been focusing on penetrating the semiconductor glass substrate processing equipment market recently. According to Philoptics, after supplying Singulation equipment to global integrated device manufacturer (IDM) clients in the first quarter (January to March) of this year, it has accumulated a supply history of glass substrate processing equipment by supplying TGV equipment in the second quarter (April to June).
Singulation is a process that precisely cuts glass substrates into chip units. It was a challenge in the industry to cut the glass stably without the 'SEWARE' phenomenon, in which the glass becomes lifted or torn, but Philoptics explains that they have raised their technology to a level capable of delivering it to clients.
A Philoptics official stated, "The glass substrate processing technology that has been internalized since 2019 is becoming visible with recent order and shipment achievements," adding, "In addition to existing clients, new collaborations with clients are also expected to be added this year."
