On the 15th, the top five domestic virtual asset exchanges (Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit, and GOPAX) joined the Financial Security Agency as members.
The Financial Services Commission noted that the five exchanges have joined the Financial Security Agency during a meeting on strengthening financial security held on the same day. The meeting, chaired by Secretary-General Kwon Dae-young of the Financial Services Commission, was attended by Park Sang-won, head of the Financial Security Agency; Lee Seok-woo, CEO of Dunamu; Lee Jae-won, CEO of Bithumb; Lee Sung-hyun, CEO of Coinone; Oh Se-jin, CEO of Korbit; and Jo Young-jung, CEO of GOPAX.
The Financial Security Agency emphasized the need for measures to strengthen financial security in response to changes in the digital financial environment, including addressing major risks related to digital assets and artificial intelligence (AI) as well as enhancing incident response training.
Minister Kwon stated, "The membership of the virtual asset operators in the Financial Security Agency is evaluated as the foundation for a professional security system being established."
