DIC is strong on the 22nd after news that the company is securing technology to chemically decompose waste plastic using clam shells as a catalyst, producing recycled plastic raw materials.
As of 10:31 a.m. on the 22nd, DIC is trading at 4,900 won, up 335 won (7.34%) from the previous trading day on the Korea Securities Exchange.
It is interpreted that the technology's expectations were highlighted as Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, committed to a plastic zero initiative on this day.
Last year, DIC established waste plastic depolymerization mass production test equipment and plans to produce 400 kg per day through pilot tests this year. If mass production is successful, the company expects to produce 450,000 tons of recycled raw materials annually by 2026, generating over 6 trillion won in revenue.
Earlier, DIC noted that its patented technology for waste plastic depolymerization was valued at 55.6 billion won last year.
DIC stated in its business report, "It is possible to expect commercialization with chemical recycling companies such as Lotte & SK Chemicals and others."
