Kakao Pay successfully held the internal AI hackathon event '2025 Cafeton with AWS' in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the course of two days from the 14th to the 15th, the company announced on the 16th.
A total of 29 teams and over 140 people participated in this Cafeton, engaging in intense competition. Participants presented various ideas that utilized AI technology to improve existing Kakao Pay services or create new financial services.
The grand award went to 'Collabi,' an AI meeting assistant service. This idea involves an AI that learns internal Kakao Pay terminology to generate optimized scripts and meeting notes tailored to audio types. Kim Dong-yong, chief technology officer (CTO) of Kakao Pay, noted, "We will continue to strengthen our AI technical capabilities and keep trying new approaches to provide user-centered, convenient, and innovative financial services."
