The KOSPI index, which fell 3% the previous day due to the resumption of short selling, is making a strong rebound after just one day. The KOSDAQ index is also up more than 3%.
As of 11:30 a.m. on the 1st, the KOSPI index has recorded a gain of 44.56 points (1.8%) to reach 2525.68 compared to the previous transaction day. In the securities market, individual investors and institutions are buying 113.7 billion won and 64.3 billion won, respectively. Foreign investors are selling 230 billion won.
All but LG Energy Solution (-1.35%) among the top 10 corporations by market capitalization in the securities market are rising. Samsung C&T and SK hynix have increased by 2.94% and 3.3%, respectively. Samsung Biologics is up 4.44%, while Celltrion is up 4.08%. Hanwha Aerospace, which is pushing for a large-scale capital increase, is also up 4.94%.
The KOSDAQ index is currently at 695.64, up 22.79 points (3.39%) compared to the previous day. In the KOSDAQ market, foreign investors and institutions are net buying 14.6 billion won and 109.6 billion won, respectively, while individuals are net selling 119.4 billion won.
All of the top 10 corporations by market capitalization in the KOSDAQ are rising. Ecopro and ECOPRO BM are increasing by 0.6% and 1.35%, respectively, while Alteogen and HLB are seeing gains of 5.48% and 5.17%, respectively. Additionally, HUGEL (5.67%), Sam Chun Dang Pharm (4.85%), and PharmaResearch (6.02%) are also increasing.
The domestic stock market saw the full resumption of short selling transactions for the first time in a year and a half the previous day. Financial authorities banned short selling entirely to implement system improvements in response to cases of illegal naked short selling by global investment banks in November 2023.
