On the first day of the full resumption of short selling in the domestic stock market, the scale of short selling transactions exceeded 1.7 trillion won.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 31st, the transaction amount of short selling in the securities market and KOSDAQ market was recorded at 1.7284 trillion won, of which foreign investors accounted for 1.5434 trillion won, making up 90% of the total short selling transaction amount.
On Nov. 3, 2023, the last trading day before the ban on short selling, the transaction amount for foreign short selling in the domestic stock market was 545.2 billion won, but it increased nearly threefold on that day. During the same period, the total transaction amount also increased from 772.3 billion won to nearly 1 trillion won.
By market, the transaction amount of short selling in the securities market that day was 1.301 trillion won, with a volume of 26,462,946 shares recorded. Foreign investors had the highest at 1.178 trillion won, followed by institutions at 111.4 billion won and individuals at 12 billion won.
The transaction amount of short selling in the KOSDAQ market was 427 billion won, and the volume was 19,123,341 shares. Foreign investors accounted for 365.5 billion won, institutions for 59.4 billion won, and individuals for 2.3 billion won.
