The financial authorities are providing support to expand generative artificial intelligence (AI) services in the financial sector.
The Financial Services Commission noted on the 30th that as a follow-up to the support measures for generative AI utilization in the financial sector announced at the end of last year, it will provide a 'financial specialized Korean corpus' starting from the 31st.
The financial specialized Korean corpus is a large-scale collection of Korean language data gathered in a form that AI models can process, handle, and analyze various specialized knowledge in the financial field. It is an essential element for developing AI services specialized in the domestic financial sector.
The financial corpus being provided this time consists of a total of 12,600 cases, with a scale of over approximately 45 GB. It will be provided in various forms to enhance the learning of financial expertise for AI models and improve the accuracy of responses.
It supports learning corpora for acquiring financial expertise using financial dictionaries and financial policy documents. A search-augmented generation (RAG) corpus will also be provided to enable the AI model to reference the latest external information and specialized data for more accurate responses.
Financial firms that wish to use the corpus can apply through the data sharing platform of the Korea Financial Settlement System and utilize it thereafter. The Financial Services Commission said, 'We will promote early use of the corpus by financial firms by providing it for free during the pilot period running until the end of June this year, and in the second half of the year, we will expand the types and scale of the corpus in common financial areas and discuss with relevant organizations to support industry-specific corpora starting next year.'
