Comprehensive content corporation SLL Central will acquire the management rights of Studio Slam. Studio Slam is known for producing various popular entertainment programs, such as "Culinary Class Wars," "Sing Again," "Crime Scene," and "The Famous Singer Competition," which aired on Netflix.
According to the investment banking (IB) industry on the 28th, SLL Central signed a contract to acquire 29.8% of Studio Slam's equity for about 11.5 billion won. With this contract, SLL Central will become the largest shareholder with a total of 52.9% management rights, adding 29.8% to its existing 23.1% stake.
SLL Central has also signed a separate shareholder agreement for the partitioning acquisition of the remaining shares of Studio Slam. The plan is to gradually buy out the remaining equity over the next four years until 2029.
This time, Studio Slam was valued at approximately 38 billion won. However, industry insiders believe that given the upcoming release of "Culinary Class Wars Season 2," the company's value is likely to rise significantly in the future.
Following this equity sale, Yoon Hyun-jun, the CEO of Studio Slam, will maintain his current position. It is reported that all other executives will also remain with the company to continue content production.
SLL Central's acquisition of Studio Slam's management rights is seen as a measure to strengthen its capabilities in producing entertainment content. Studio Slam introduced the new entertainment genre of cooking survival with "Culinary Class Wars" at the end of last year. An industry official noted, "Culinary Class Wars has been broadcast worldwide through Netflix, serving as a signal for the full-fledged popularity of 'K-entertainment.'"
In the content industry, Studio Slam is highly regarded for producing a wide variety of entertainment programs across different genres. An industry official stated, "While many entertainment contents released recently tend to stick to similar formats, Studio Slam has consistently challenged new formats, which differentiates it from other production companies."
