The number of items that can be traded on NextTrade, an alternative trading system (ATS), will increase to 796 starting March 31.

According to NextTrade on the 28th, starting on the 31st, 180 KOSPI market items and 270 KOSDAQ market items will be added to the list of items available for transaction. NextTrade has expanded the number of items available for transaction from 10 to 110 to 350 to 800 since its launch on the 4th. However, Bridge Biotherapeutics, AbClon, EOFlow, which have been designated as management items, and HLB Life Science, which has received a designation for investment caution, have been removed from the list of tradeable stocks.

The largest new item available for transaction on NextTrade is HD Hyundai Marine Solution. On that day, the market capitalization of HD Hyundai Marine Solution based on the closing price is 6.25 trillion won.

Items with a market capitalization of over 2 trillion won, such as Hyundai AutoEver, SHIFT UP, ISU PETASYS, SK Gas, and Asiana Airlines, can also be traded on NextTrade.

Looking at only the KOSDAQ market, HIGEN RNM has the largest market capitalization of 896 billion won based on the closing price that day, followed by Philoptics, Taesung, OliX Pharmaceuticals, and HLB Pharma.

There will also be items that individuals frequently buy and sell, accounting for most transactions on NextTrade. CLOBOT, NEXTEEL, Hanwha Engine, Philoptics, Husteel, and others are among the items with high trading volumes for individual investors this month.

The biggest change resulting from items becoming eligible for transaction on NextTrade is that they will be traded in the Pre-Market and After-Market. The Pre-Market is open from 8 a.m. to 8:50 a.m., and the After-Market is open from 3:40 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The percentages of transaction volumes by market on NextTrade, based on the period from the 24th to the 27th, show that the main market (regular market) accounts for 83.5%, while the After-Market accounts for 8.4% and the Pre-Market for 8.1%.

While the transaction volume is relatively small in the Pre-Market, there have been repeated cases of prices soaring or plummeting with a small number of transactions, prompting investors to remain cautious. On that day, POSCO Holdings, in the Pre-Market, reached the lower limit of its initial trading price with 5 transactions. The Financial Supervisory Service has announced plans to investigate unfair trading practices related to repeated market disturbances.

Starting from the 31st, NextTrade will also initiate bulk and basket transactions. Bulk transactions refer to trades exceeding 50 million won, while basket transactions involve trading stocks of 5 items and 200 million won or more at prices agreed upon by the parties. Information on transactions will be made public after the market closes at 8 p.m.

The number of securities firms participating in NextTrade is also increasing. Shinhan Investment Corp. will participate in the main market following the Pre-Market and After-Market. Woori Investment & Securities will open its Pre-Market and After-Market to customers. The total number of securities firms participating in NextTrade has now reached 29.

NextTrade will maintain the number of items available for transaction at the current level for the time being. It is expected to announce new items eligible for trading by the end of June. During this process, some items that were previously available for transaction may be removed.
