The stock of DONG YANG STEEL PIPE, a manufacturer of steel pipes, resumed trading at 3 p.m. on the 18th. Trading was halted due to a computer error at 12:05 p.m. and resumed after approximately three hours.
The stock of DONG YANG STEEL PIPE traded at 1,081 won on the KOSPI market at 3:11 p.m. It rose by 25.55% (220 won) compared to the previous day. The increase surpassed the rise before the trading suspension (19.4%, or 167 won).
According to the Korea Exchange, a delay occurred in the transaction settlement system for KOSPI market stocks starting at 11:37:07 a.m. It was determined that the issue related to DONG YANG STEEL PIPE's transaction affected other stocks as well. Seven minutes later, at 11:44:16 a.m., the exchange's settlement system was restored, and quotations were accepted normally; however, the refusal of quotations for DONG YANG STEEL PIPE persisted.
The exchange plans to identify the exact cause of the computer error and the inconveniences faced by investors. An exchange official noted, "We deeply regret the inconveniences faced by investors due to the computer error," and added, "We will do our best to stabilize the system by implementing measures to prevent recurrence."
