Two employees at the Financial Supervisory Service, at the level of Head of Team (Grade 3), reportedly reemployed as executives at the domestic virtual asset exchange Bithumb as of the 6th.
According to the financial sector, Head of Team A from the Banking Inspection Bureau and Head of Team B from the Insurance Inspection Bureau received approval for reemployment at Bithumb in the review of reemployment of retired public officials by the Ministry of Personnel Management last month. They will serve as executive directors and will each be responsible for compliance and audit management.
The recruitment of former Financial Supervisory Service officials at Bithumb is interpreted as a measure to prepare for potential sanctions from the financial authorities. The Financial Supervisory Service conducted an on-site inspection of Bithumb in September of last year. Bithumb also hired two former Financial Supervisory Service officials last year. A Grade 3 employee from the Financial Supervisory Service moved to the position of director, while a Grade 4 former employee transitioned to the position of Head of Team.
