The Korea Accounting Standards Board announced on the 26th that it has appointed five new Commissioners to the Sustainability Standards Advisory Committee, which is the official advisory body of the Sustainability Standards Board (KSSB).
From the corporate side, the newly appointed members include Kwang-Hee Han, head of the ESG Strategy Group at Samsung SDI, Jeong-Eun Sim, executive director at HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, and Jin-Woo Kim, head of the Financial Strategy Office at HYBE. From the investor side, Dae-Woong Lim, Korea representative at UEP FI and ASEAN advisor, and from academia, Professor Hee-Yeon Sunwoo of Sejong University were selected. Their terms will begin next month and extend until February 2027.
Three new Commissioners were appointed to replace two existing corporate Commissioners whose terms had expired, increasing the number of corporate representatives. With the new appointments, the advisory committee will be composed of a total of 20 members, including 9 representatives from corporations, 3 from investors, 3 from professional entities, 2 from academia, and 2 from relevant institutions, including the Chairperson.
The Korea Accounting Standards Board explained that it selected the new Commissioners from corporations, international organizations, and academia experts to provide practical support for establishing and implementing domestic sustainability disclosure standards.
A representative from the Korea Accounting Standards Board noted, "Through this appointment of new Commissioners, we expect to achieve more professional and practical advice in the process of establishing and supporting the implementation of sustainability disclosure standards."
