Doosan Group's market capitalization has increased by more than 12 trillion won this year, rising to 10th place among large corporate groups based on market capitalization.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 18th, the total market capitalization of the seven listed companies (excluding preferred shares) of Doosan Group is 37.111 trillion won based on the closing price of the day. This is a 50.2% (12.411 trillion won) increase from 24.7 trillion won at the end of last year. The ranking in market capitalization has also risen one step from 11th to 10th, pushing NAVER out.
The sharp rise in Doosan Enerbility's stock price has driven the overall market capitalization of the group. Doosan Enerbility's stock price jumped 72.6% (12,750 won) from 17,550 won on December 30 last year to 30,300 won at the closing price today. During the same period, its market capitalization increased from 11.242 trillion won to 19.409 trillion won.
The background for Doosan Enerbility's stock price surpassing the 30,000 won mark for the first time since June 2021 is due to high expectations for its core businesses in nuclear power generation and gas power generation. Doosan Enerbility has forecasted a new order volume of 10.7 trillion won this year, 50.3% more than last year, noting that demand for gas turbines is expected to remain solid, in addition to the Czech nuclear power project.
Choi Kyung-hun, a researcher at Shinhan Investment Corporation, noted, 'Doosan Enerbility is expected to continue expanding its ordering capability, with two overseas nuclear power plants in 2026, two overseas nuclear power plants in 2027, and two domestic nuclear power plants in 2029,' adding, 'It is projected that growth in scale and profits will continue in the medium to long term.'
Shares of holding company Doosan also surged. Doosan's stock traded at 360,000 won during the day, setting a new all-time high. Rumors that Doosan's electronic business group (BG) would embark on a large-scale capacity (CAPA) expansion in response to the demand for copper-clad laminate (CCL), a key material for semiconductors, have spurred investor sentiment. Doosan's market capitalization increased by about 41% (1.726 trillion won), rising from 4.214 trillion won at the end of last year to 5.940 trillion won based on the closing price today.
Thanks to the excitement of robotic theme stocks, Doosan Robotics' market capitalization increased from 3.390 trillion won at the end of last year to 4.946 trillion won based on the closing price today, a rise of 37% (1.256 trillion won).
In addition, all listed companies in Doosan Group, including Doosan Bobcat, Doosan Fuel Cell, DOOSAN TESNA, and ORICOM, saw their market capitalizations increase compared to the end of last year.
For the upward trend in Doosan Group's stock prices to continue, financing and governance structure are expected to be crucial. Doosan Group experienced a sharp drop in stock prices during the process of pursuing a governance restructuring that transfers Doosan Bobcat, under Doosan Enerbility, to Doosan Robotics.
