Reports have emerged that the Donald Trump U.S. administration will present a blueprint for ending the Russia-Ukraine war to allies at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, leading to a surge in stock prices of Ukraine reconstruction themed stocks in the domestic market.
SY STEEL TECH shares were traded at 7,460 won in the Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (KOSDAQ) market at 9:20 a.m. on the 6th. The stock price rose by 9.54% (650 won) compared to the previous day. SY STEEL TECH is classified as a Ukraine reconstruction themed stock because it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to Ukraine reconstruction projects with KOLON GLOBAL in 2023.
The stock prices of corporations that manufacture and sell construction equipment needed for reconstruction projects, such as HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and JUNJIN Construction Robot, are also strong.
The expectation that the nearly three-year-long Russia-Ukraine war could come to an end appears to have stimulated investment sentiment. Bloomberg reported, citing multiple sources, that Keith Kellogg, President Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, is expected to explain plans for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference, which will take place from the 14th to the 16th of this month (local time).
The main point is to provide Ukraine with security guarantees to temporarily halt hostilities and leave the Russian military's occupied territories as they are, in order to prevent a resurgence of Russian attacks.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have also kept the possibility of dialogue open. President Zelensky recently noted in an interview that direct talks with President Putin are possible. Russia has also indicated a willingness to engage in dialogue for negotiation with President Zelensky.
