King Abdullah II of Jordan is set to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House, the Jordanian News Agency Petra reported on the 2nd.
According to Petra, King Abdullah II received an invitation from President Trump last week. The meeting is scheduled for the 11th.
Earlier, President Trump suggested relocating residents of the Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by war, to nearby Arab countries, identifying Jordan and Egypt as possible destinations. In response, King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi each expressed their opposition.
President Trump will hold his first summit meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since taking office last month on the 4th. They are expected to discuss issues related to hostages in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas entered a ceasefire beginning on the 19th of last month to exchange hostages and detainees. After the repatriation process is completed, Israel will proceed with negotiations for a two-stage ceasefire to fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
