The Korea Securities Depository noted on the 17th that the scale of stock-related bond exercises last year was 4.4154 trillion won, an increase of 11.3% compared to 2023. During the same period, the number of stock-related bond exercises decreased by 20.4% to 3,832 cases.
Stock-related bonds refer to bonds that can be converted or exchanged into the issuing company's stocks or stocks of other companies secured by the issuer, according to predetermined conditions set at the time of issuance.
By type, the scale of convertible bonds (CB) exercised last year was 3.1077 trillion won, the highest amount, an increase of 9.3% compared to 2023. This was the largest scale since 3.1904 trillion won in 2021.
The scale of exchange bonds (EB) exercised jumped more than four times from 263.8 billion won in 2023 to 1.0973 trillion won in 2024. Conversely, the scale of bonds with stock acquisition rights (BW) decreased from 859.3 billion won in 2023 to 210.4 billion won in 2024.
