The event held at the Seoul Westin Chosun Hotel featured Kim So-young, the vice chairperson of the Financial Services Commission and chair of the Virtual Asset Committee, Min Byung-deok, a member of the Democratic Party, and Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the Reform Party, as speakers. Additionally, Yoon Chang-hyun, president of Korea Securities Depository (KSD), and Lee Geun-joo, president of the Korean Fintech Industry Association, participated.
Leaders of domestic virtual asset exchanges such as Lee Seok-woo, CEO of Dunamu, Lee Jae-won, CEO of Bithumb, Cha Myung-hoon, CEO of Coinone, and Oh Se-jin, CEO of Korbit, attended the event.
The virtual asset conference, held for the fourth time this year, prepared various sessions under the theme 'Trump's second term, the renaissance of virtual assets'. It will examine last year's approval of Bitcoin spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) trading in the United States and the changing global institutional landscape after the election of Donald Trump as U.S. President. Furthermore, expert lectures diagnosing desirable methods of virtual asset investment are also scheduled.
Kim Young-joo, the representative of CHOSUNBIZ, emphasized the significance of the conference in his opening remarks. He noted, "As countries around the world seek to institutionalize virtual assets, the competition for leadership is intensifying," and added, "In today's event, we will discuss ways to foster the virtual asset market in depth."
The morning keynote speech is expected to provide insights into domestic and international policy directions surrounding virtual assets. Kim Seo-jun, CEO of Hashed, and Raja Zaidi, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Scroll, who are actively involved in the global industry, will deliver lectures.
In the following morning sessions, industry, academic, and government experts will take the stage to share diverse perspectives on the incorporation of virtual assets into the institutional framework. Justin Kim, head of Avalanche Asia, Kim Gap-rae, senior researcher at the Capital Market Research Institute, and Kim Dong-seob, head of the digital currency planning team at the Bank of Korea, are expected to present.
In the afternoon session, recommendations from influencers will follow as guidelines for investing in the virtual asset market. Joo Gi-young, CEO of CryptoQuant, with a follower count of 400,000 on X (formerly Twitter), will utilize his expertise in quantitative (data metrics) analysis to discuss Bitcoin market outlook. Following him, Goran, a YouTuber with 100,000 subscribers, will present on the topic 'Trump's second term, the wise coin investment life.'
Ripple, which is very popular in Korea, also sent a video message to the '2025 virtual asset conference.' Ripple is a blockchain developer that issues its namesake virtual asset. The market capitalization of the Ripple virtual asset is $18.18 billion (approximately 265 trillion won), ranking third in market cap. Rahul Advani, head of Ripple's Asia-Pacific policy, will explain Ripple's business direction in a video lecture.
In the afternoon panel discussion, sharp discussions and analyses regarding the monetary function of Bitcoin will unfold. Lee Jeong-soo, a professor at Seoul National University who is also active in the Virtual Asset Committee under the Financial Services Commission, will serve as the moderator.
