Jung Eun-bo, chairman of the Korea Exchange, departed on the 14th to attend the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) board meeting in São Paulo, Brazil.
Founded in 1961, the WFE is an organization where regular exchanges from various countries participate as members to discuss agendas related to the global transaction market. It consists of 73 full members and 12 associate members.
The exchange became the 21st full member in 1979. It currently participates as a representative director for the Asia-Pacific region on the WEF board, which has a total of 18 seats.
At this board meeting, the approval of WFE financial statements and the business plan for this year will take place, along with discussions on recent trends in the global transaction market, including the emergence of the Trump administration in the U.S. and changes in the regulatory environment.
Chairman Jung plans to meet with representatives from major overseas exchanges to share strategic directions for future business opportunities, including virtual asset exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and the enhancement of data and index services, and to seek collaboration.
A representative from the exchange noted that "the exchange will continue to actively engage on the global stage and lead discussions on key issues in the global capital market while enhancing its international status."
