As of 9:07 a.m. on the 3rd, the KOSPI index rose by 23.29 points (0.97%) to 2,422.23 compared to the previous day.
On this day, foreign investors purchased 42.9 billion won, and institutions bought 2.7 billion won, while individuals are selling a total of 44.8 billion won.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, SK Hynix (1.58%), LG Energy Solution (0.43%), and Samsung Biologics (0.21%) are rising, while Samsung Electronics (-0.56%), Kia (-0.39%), and Hyundai Mobis (-0.20%) are falling.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index rose by 6.48 points (0.94%) to 693.11 compared to the previous day.
In the KOSDAQ market, individuals are net purchasing 29.2 billion won, while foreigners are net selling 27.7 billion won, and institutions are net selling 900 million won.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Ecopro BM (5.02%), HLB (0.68%), and Ecopro (7.61%) are rising. Conversely, Alteogen (-0.17%), LigaChem Biosciences (-0.74%), and CLASSYS (-1.53%) are declining.
By sector, life sciences tools and services (2.96%), energy equipment and services (1.89%), and property and casualty insurance (1.61%) are rising, while household goods (-0.62%), healthcare technology (-0.59%), and handsets (-0.45%) are declining.
On this day, the exchange rate of the Korean won against the U.S. dollar opened at 1,469.5 won, up 2.9 won from the previous day.
Overnight, the New York stock market closed lower. On the first trading day of the new year, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 40,392.27, down 151.95 points (-0.36%) from the previous trading day.
