EQT Partners, one of the world’s top three private equity firms, has announced that, effective on January 1, 2025, Dayea Yeon is elevated to the position of Partner.
Dayea Yeon continues to lead the EQT Private Capital Korea Investment Team, where she is responsible for overseeing all of EQT’s private equity investment activity in the Korean market. Yeon’s appointment marks the first-ever appointment of a female partner by a global private equity firm in Korea, and it is also a rare case across Asia.
Yeon has been with Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) since 2010. Following the firm’s integration with EQT in 2022, she is regarded as a key figure who led EQT’s successful establishment and investment performance in the Korea market.
Over her 15-year career at EQT and BPEA, she has successfully led numerous landmark M&A transactions in Korea, including Logen Logistics, Halla Cement, Acuon Capital, and Shinhan Financial Group.
Yeon graduated early from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a major in Finance and a minor in International Relations. Before joining BPEA, she worked in Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division.
EQT, an investment organization operated by the Swedish Wallenberg family, has offices in 25 countries across Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas, with more than 1,900 employees. EQT is steadily expanding its investment footprint in the Asian private equity market through BPEA Fund VIII, one of the largest private equity funds ever raised in Asia, with a size of USD 11.2 billion.
EQT views South Korea as a key part of the firm’s Asia Pacific strategy, covering private equity, infrastructure, and real estate investments. EQT has been investing in the Korean market since 2009 and strengthened its presence in the market by opening its Seoul office in 2023.
