On the morning of the 18th, Lotte Energy Materials' stock price is rising. This appears to be due to the impact of being the first in the industry to supply copper foil for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators. There are evaluations that Lotte Energy Materials has entered the 'AI semiconductor supply chain' centered around NVIDIA.

As of 9:56 a.m., Lotte Materials is trading at 26,550 won, up 650 won (2.51%) from the previous day.

The previous day, Lotte Materials announced that it would supply 'HVLP (Hyper Very Low Profile)' fourth-generation copper foil for AI accelerators to Doosan Electronic Business Group (BG) starting this month. Copper foil is a thin copper sheet that serves as a conductor to transfer heat during the electrochemical reaction process. Hyper Very Low Profile means that the surface roughness has been minimized to enhance thermal conductivity.

The copper foil supplied by Lotte will be used in Doosan's copper-clad laminate (CCL), which is a semi-finished substrate made by combining copper foil with insulating material. Doosan's CCL is expected to be supplied to data centers built with NVIDIA's latest AI accelerator 'Blackwell'.

Last month, Lotte Energy Materials established a system capable of mass-producing Hyper Very Low Profile copper foil with an annual capacity of 1,800 tons at its Iksan Plant No. 1 in North Jeolla Province.

A representative from Lotte Energy Materials noted, 'With this supply, we aim to solidify the network-oriented value chain for AI accelerators and position ourselves as a key supplier that contributes to our clients' growth.'
