The Korea Exchange designated Dec. 30 as the closing day for this year's stock market and announced that it will reopen at 10 a.m. on Jan. 2 next year on the 17th.
The exchange has designated Dec. 31 as the year-end holiday, meaning the securities and derivatives markets will operate until Dec. 30. Next year's stock market opening day is Jan. 2 at 10 a.m., while the derivatives market will open at 9:45 a.m. or 10 a.m. depending on the product. The closing time remains at 3:30 p.m.
The ex-dividend date for the listed companies that set the end of December as the settlement of account date is the 27th. Therefore, shares must be purchased by the 26th to be eligible for dividends. Major listed companies such as Samsung Life, Celltrion, and Samsung Securities have set this day as the dividend criterion date, so attention should be paid to the ex-dividend.
However, the central clearing house (CCP) and transaction information repository (TR) reporting tasks for over-the-counter derivatives will operate normally without year-end holidays.
