Korea Investment & Securities announced on the 11th that the profit-sharing public fund ‘Korea Investment Global New Growth Fund,’ launched in August of last year, has been redeemed early after achieving its target return of 20%.
This fund is a product that invests in overseas stocks in seven new growth themes: artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, electric vehicles, biotechnology, luxury goods, space economy, and cloud. It was designed with a profit-sharing structure that separates revenue securities into senior and junior categories, where junior investors bear certain losses first. Korea Investment Trust Management is responsible for management, while Korea Investment & Securities handles sales. It was established with a total size of 107.5 billion won, including 91.9 billion won in retail funds and junior investment contributions from Korea Investment Financial Group.
The maturity of the Korea Investment Global New Growth Fund was three years. However, it decided to redeem early as it achieved its target return of 20% as of Nov. 14 this year. Korea Investment & Securities explained that the stock prices of global AI, semiconductor, and cloud-related corporations included in subordinate private equity funds rose significantly, driving overall revenue. The fund underwent liquidation procedures for three weeks and paid out the full amount of the redemption funds to each investor on the 4th of this month.
Yang Won-taek, head of the Investment Product Division at Korea Investment & Securities, noted, “We are focusing our group’s capabilities on developing and supplying high-quality financial products that can invest stably in various global assets and generate revenue,” adding, “We plan to actively launch a variety of public funds that seek stable returns while reducing investment risks.”
