Singer Youngtak proved his all-rounder status and the stature of the "hit song emperor" through thrilling variations.
Youngtak released the full audio of his third studio album GOGO and the music video for the title track "Kkeokgeo" at 6 p.m. on the 14th on various music sites.
Youngtak's studio album release comes about three years after his second album FORM. After taking a long time, Youngtak opened a new chapter by including 12 tracks in diverse genres such as punk, pop, rock, ballad, trot and country on this album. As a "hit song factory," Youngtak directly participated in the lyrics, composition and arrangement of 11 of the 12 tracks on this album. Through this, he demonstrated his capabilities as an "all-rounder" musician who breaks down the boundaries of genre and generation.
GOGO threads a single person's narrative across the album about walking their own way in a rapidly changing world, laughing off moments that don't go as planned, and ultimately trying to keep walking together with someone.
What clearly shows the album's identity is the title track "Kkeokgeo." It is a song that cheerfully expresses the courage to move differently than expected amid moments when you have to go but don't want to go, and when you seem to know everything yet bumble.
Through lyrics such as "It doesn't really matter what I become" and "So what if I move a little differently than expected," the song intuitively delivers a subjective message about proceeding on one's own trajectory without being bound by a set fate or others' gazes. Also, lines like "I don't need a red light or anything, I really need Red Bull" raise the tension with witty punch lines.
The accompanying music video visually and sonically captures Youngtak's ambition to break away from standardized paths and continue on his own course. His steady, refreshing vocals, the lively disco rhythm that lingers in the ears, and diverse performances stand out.
