Singer 이상순 has been off activities for about 20 days due to decreased vagus nerve function. For three weeks his radio DJ slot has been filled by special DJs.
이상순 has been hosting MBC FM4U "완벽한 하루 이상순입니다" (hereafter "완벽한 하루") since Nov. 4, 2024. However, beginning on the 26th of last month he was late or absent despite being the DJ.
From Aug. 27 이상순 was consecutively absent, and except for a single return on the 29th he did not appear on live broadcasts until Sept. 5. The DJ was away for nearly 10 days, prompting various speculations such as health concerns.
Finally, on the 6th 이상순 posted a long message on his social media to explain his condition.
이상순 said, "Many people have been worried because I have not been able to host the radio for several days. I apologize to listeners for taking a break from hosting without any explanation," and added, "Last Wednesday I suddenly felt unwell and it was difficult to host the radio, and since then I have undergone various tests and consultations. Although I am still waiting for a few more detailed tests, at the recommendation of medical staff that I need rest due to a neurological symptom called 'decreased vagus nerve function,' I have inevitably been resting from the radio and taking time to recover."
이상순 also said, "I will use this opportunity to thoroughly check my overall physical condition and fully recover my condition so I can return to you in good health," and added, "Please don't worry too much. I am resting well and recovering, so please wait a little. See you soon in good shape."
Accordingly, "완벽한 하루" is proceeding with a special DJ system. Earlier on the 7th MBC said in an official statement, "The special DJ for MBC FM4U '완벽한 하루 이상순입니다' will be singer Thomas Cook for the time being."
A day earlier it announced, "Many of you may be worried about the absence of DJ 이상순. DJ Sangsoon is taking a short break from broadcasting to focus on recovering his condition. He is getting sufficient rest and carefully managing his condition, so you need not worry too much. It may take a little more time, but he will recover well and greet you again on the air soon. Thank you to everyone who is waiting for and worrying about DJ Sangsoon."
But with DJ 이상순 absent for nearly three weeks, listeners' concerns have continued. Listeners reacted, "When will DJ Sangsoon return?", "I hope he recovers quickly," "I want to hear DJ Sangsoon's voice," and "I miss DJ Sangsoon."
