BTOB's Lee Chang-seop said he once dreamed of being a skateboarder before becoming a singer.
On the 13th, the YouTube channel 'Life84' uploaded a video titled 'Life Lee Chang-seop.'
That day Kian84 asked, "Did you study a bit in middle school?" Lee Chang-seop replied, "I was really bad at studying. In middle school I was busy hanging out with friends. I didn't play much soccer and went to karaoke a lot."
When Kian84 asked, "So were you trying to become a singer from then on?" he said, "No. at that time I wanted to be a skateboarder," and added, "In the second year of middle school I happened to come across skateboarding and rode it like crazy. I wanted to become a pro."
But he said he had to give up the dream because of injuries. Lee Chang-seop recalled, "In the second year of high school I sprained my ankle so often that when I went to the hospital the bone had just broken and was embedded in the muscle. So I thought this was not my path. It was the first thing I had passionately yearned for in my life. More than being a singer."
After quitting skateboarding his mother suggested the drums, but he said he wanted to learn to sing and found his aptitude.
Lee Chang-seop said, "While preparing for college entrance exams, in my third year of high school there was an audition in my room by chance. There weren't many applicants, so they said if you write this down and submit it you can audition, so I just played piano and sang and it worked out."
He continued, "I went to the second-round audition. When I opened the door and walked in there were six very handsome men. 'So this is what idols should look like. I'm finished today,' I thought. At that time I weighed 80kg. I was chubby. I was in a daze about passing."
The six handsome men Lee Chang-seop met at the time were Beast, who were about to debut. Lee Chang-seop said, "So I auditioned thinking I'd fail anyway, so I took out sheet music and just played and sang whatever was there. Since I thought I'd fail anyway, I took the bus home, and a few days later I was contacted saying I had passed."
Meanwhile, Lee Chang-seop began life as a trainee at 19 and debuted in 2012 at age 22 as a member of the group BTOB, serving as a team vocal member.<
