Actor Jeon Won-ju directly revealed that she stopped recording after a disagreement with the production team when she tried to raise her YouTube appearance fee. She later indicated she would resume YouTube activities, but some netizens have continued to criticize her.
On the 11th, the YouTube channel "Omija malgo Samija" released a video titled "My friend of 63 years Jeon Won-ju is still okay."
That day, Samija and her husband Kim Gwan-su met Jeon Won-ju, with whom they have had a long relationship, and talked. While conversing, Samija asked Jeon Won-ju, "I heard you said you would rest from YouTube for a while. Why are you resting? It was fun. Weren't you doing well?"
Jeon Won-ju then personally explained the background for temporarily halting her YouTube activities. She said, "You must watch YouTube a lot. I don't watch it much," and added, "I'm going to start again now. I was trying to raise this (money), but they said they'd quit, so I said let's just do it."
She continued, "Actually, I was going to quit (YouTube), but then I thought we shouldn't make too much of this (money). I said let's just do it," revealing there had been disagreements over appearance fees. Hearing this, Kim Gwan-su also told Jeon Won-ju, "You can stop worrying about it now."
Earlier, on the 24th of last month, a notice in the name of the existing production team was posted in the community section of the YouTube channel "Jeon Won-ju_Jeon Won-ju protagonist."
At that time the production team said, "We are deeply grateful for your support and interest in our production team so far," and added, "We inform you that the production team that produced and operated the channel from its launch until now will no longer produce the Jeon Won-ju protagonist channel."
They went on to express gratitude, saying, "All of our production team had a joyful and happy year thanks to the subscribers and teacher Jeon Won-ju." However, the production team did not disclose the specific reasons why it suddenly left the channel or the future direction of operations.
Some speculated that the production team's departure might be related to Jeon Won-ju's health issues. Jeon Won-ju's side denied the health concerns, explaining it was a "process for channel renewal and reorganization."
