Singer Song Chang-sik moved audiences with an emotional story on MBN Kim Ju-ha's Day and Night about how, after the birth of his eldest son, fate led him to adopt two more children.
On the 42nd episode of MBN Kim Ju-ha's Day and Night, which aired at 9:40 p.m. on the 12th (Sat), Song Chang-sik explained that his wife and his sister-in-law, who were twin sisters, wanted to adopt a child in the United States, and after inquiries they managed to bring one child, but later said that institutional changes made overseas adoption difficult.
Song Chang-sik said, "We couldn't send them back, so we just decided to raise them," and added that his sister-in-law's child born in the United States also became unable to raise the child alone, so "we decided to take this child too." He said he ultimately adopted two children because of his sister-in-law and offered a warm feeling with his characteristic hahoetal smile.
Jeong Mi-jo said about why she suddenly left the music scene at the height of her popularity, "I had no desire at all to become a famous singer, a star, or to make a lot of money," and confessed that she started purely because she loved singing and planned to stop once she felt she had sung enough. Jeong Mi-jo went to Paris to study art, then worked as an art college professor for 22 years living a completely different life, and said she unexpectedly met Choi Baek-ho after 37 years and returned to singing. She said that Choi Baek-ho, who kept urging, "Your voice still sounds good; why don't you sing?", even introduced an album producer, making her miraculous return as a singer and leaving a deep impression.
Song Chang-sik candidly revealed his "Song Chang-sik brand positive outlook on life," recounting that he was once jailed for 21 days for missing reserve forces training. He said that the jazz harmony he had been studying for orchestra arrangements made no progress outside, but he completed it perfectly during the 21 days in detention and shouted, "Jail is the best place to study!", prompting uproarious laughter.
Jeong Mi-jo expressed her gratitude that the 20s and 30s generation passionately love her songs. About adopting the youngest, Song Chang-sik confessed, "My sister-in-law couldn't adopt, so she had a child through artificial insemination. But she became unable to raise the child," and said, "We traveled to the United States, and my wife picked up that child and the child wouldn't let go of her. So we brought that child to Korea and adopted them as the youngest."
