MBC Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer (planned by Kwon Seong-chang, written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hun) concluded its long journey with the 14th and final episode on the 12th. Centered on Yubona (played by Kong Hyojin), who leads a double life between being an ordinary married woman and a ruthless killer, A Bona fide Killer skillfully blended action, family bonds and romance around Yubona's dual life, maintaining tense developments until the end and winning viewers' love. In response, leading actors Kong Hyojin, Jung Jun-won and Lee Sang Yi shared their ending thoughts and bade a regretful farewell.
First, Kong Hyojin firmly anchored the drama as Yubona, an ordinary wife and mother who transforms into a far more powerful killer in moments of crisis. Moving between the thrill of the genre and natural, everyday acting to create Yubona's unique charm, Kong Hyojin said, "This project taught me the satisfaction that comes from a new challenge. I am so happy that viewers have shown such passionate love commensurate with the hard work."
She added, "I hope the long shooting period remains, for the A Bona fide Killer team who sailed together with me and for me, a beneficial and enjoyable memory, and I want to express my thanks to everyone once again," and said she wanted to ask those who discovered a new charm of Kong Hyojin through Yubona and responded positively to "please look forward to my other future roles."
Jung Jun-won played Kwon Tae-seong, Yubona's husband, and delicately portrayed the character's complex emotions as he tried to protect her to the end even after learning her shocking identity. In particular, he convincingly depicted Kwon Tae-seong's refusal to let go of his feelings for Yubona amid love, confusion and fear, driving the drama's emotional line.
Jung Jun-won said, "I was happy to participate in such a great project. Even when time passes and I look back on the work, I think it will be a memory deeply imprinted in my heart," adding, "Because I learned a lot during filming and it was a project where I could grow personally, it will be remembered even more dearly. I sincerely thank everyone who laughed and empathized with us, and I will meet you with good acting in another project."
Lee Sang Yi played detective Lee Dong-jin, who obsessively pursues the Kingfisher case, adding weighty tension to the work. Portraying Lee Dong-jin with sharp investigative skills and serious charisma, Lee Sang Yi said, "I am glad I could finish a project I enjoyed filming until the end. To me, A Bona fide Killer is a work that contains a relentless pursuit that will never truly end," showing special affection for the series.
