Pop star Celine Dion, who has stiff-person syndrome, shed tears on an emotional comeback stage.
U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six and other foreign media reported on the 13th (local time) that Celine Dion performed at Paris La Défense Arena last Saturday, her first performance in four years after battling the illness.
According to reports, Celine Dion took the stage in a black dress with her hair smoothly pulled back in a bun style. She appeared overcome with emotion several times during the performance, and when the audience applauded her, she ultimately continued singing through tears.
At the concert, Celine Dion sang a variety of songs, including one of her signature songs, "My Heart Will Go On."
Taking the stage, Celine Dion said, "I promised myself I would not cry. Tonight I want to sing for you, for me, for life," and added, "It was amazing that we are all together. I promised I would come back and stand on stage again."
She expressed gratitude for the fans' support and applause, adding, "Because you loved me, I was able to become who I am today."
Earlier in March, Celine Dion announced her return, calling it "the greatest gift of my life," and said, "I am truly ready to do this. I feel good and I am strong. I am definitely excited and, of course, a little nervous, but above all I am grateful to all of you. I cannot wait to see you again."
Celine Dion was previously reported to have been diagnosed with the rare disease stiff-person syndrome in December 2022. Stiff-person syndrome causes progressively worsening muscle stiffness; muscles gradually stiffen and enlarge starting in the trunk and abdomen and are known to eventually affect muscles throughout the body.
