On the 12th, Lee Hyun-yi's YouTube channel released a video titled "An honest review of Johns Hopkins CTY camp that no one told you about (living in a U.S. dormitory for a month)". Lee Hyun-yi and Hong Seong-gi's son Yoon-seo has an easygoing personality, is very interested in science, and had a romanticized view of U.S. dormitories, so he said he studied on his own and applied to a U.S. university camp. His parents, Hong Seong-gi and Lee Hyun-yi, tried to look for various reports up to his acceptance, but because it is a very rare case in Korea, they said they challenged it almost like banging their heads against the ground.
Hong Seong-gi said, "At first, I was the only father in the house," explaining that among all the children, Yoon-seo was the only Korean child. Moreover, everything was different, including the school guidance and other local circumstances. At the opening ceremony there was talk of a textbook that they had never heard of, but because of American mothers' requests about personal cellphone use, Hong Seong-gi said he was only able to ask questions at the very end.
He continued, "I'm saying this because Yoon-seo wasn't there; Yoon-seo may not have felt it, but when I heard about it, there seemed to be a bit of racial discrimination," adding, "A point of racial discrimination was during hall time when friends gather to play. Seventh graders, according to Yoon-seo, all gather in the room of a very big kid. They play games on a laptop, and when Yoon-seo asked to join, a seventh grader said, 'Don't bother me.' So Yoon-seo ended up playing in a room with other Asian kids." Lee Hyun-yi nodded, saying, "Because we didn't know, it was a courage born of ignorance that allowed us to send him."
