Actor Lee Jun's 123rd-floor high-rise building cleaning part-time job is drawing criticism as an "insult to dignity."
On the 11th, the YouTube channel "Workman" released a video titled "You're going to clean the 555m Lotte World Tower stairs yourself? | Lotte World Tower stair cleaning."
The video showed Lee Jun attempting to clean the stairs of Lotte World Tower corresponding to the 123rd floor. Lee Jun said he began the challenge confidently, but when told that in 2 hours he had cleaned only 10 floors, he said, "I worked a garbage collection part-time job and slept for 18 hours, so you could say my schedule for tomorrow is gone."
Lee Jun lamented, "It's nice that there's no sunlight, but I don't know what time it is. I'm trying not to see which floor I'm on. If I think about which floor I'm on, I get mentally overwhelmed. My mental state is being worn down."
Lee Jun cleaned the stairs from the first floor to the 40th floor for five hours, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and then received his part-time pay. The amount he received was 51,600 won, which corresponds to an hourly wage of about 10,320 won.
Lee Jun said, "I think I underestimated it too much. It looks easy when you watch it, but among the jobs I've experienced, it's one of the toughest, within my top two."
After the video was released, subscribers and netizens were shocked that despite the grueling work of climbing stairs, running the vacuum cleaner, dusting and wiping, the pay was at the minimum wage level. In particular, they were astonished that cleaning is done while going up because doing it while going down could lead to accidents.
