Actors Seo Kang-jun and Ahn Eun-jin portray the unvarnished reality of a couple in a 10-year relationship, promising deep resonance with home audiences.
Today (the 12th) at 9:20 p.m., the new KBS 2TV Saturday-Sunday miniseries A Love Other Than Yours (directed by Hwang Seung-gi·Lee Ga-ram, written by Yoo Soo-ji, produced by UNI CHEM) premieres. The series is a realistic melo drama that tells the story of lovers who have spent 10 years together encountering unfamiliar emotions amid familiarity. Seo Kang-jun and Ahn Eun-jin play Namgung Ho, deputy manager of Hunmin Bakery, and film director Lee Mi-do, respectively, portraying a long-term couple who, having passed the youth when love alone was enough, now face the wall of reality.
Released stills ahead of the first broadcast captured the 10 years of memories Namgung Ho and Lee Mi-do have built, along with an unusual current of change between them. In contrast to memo pads full of memories from sharing daily life since childhood, the couple's sorrowful eyes, as if about to cry, pique curiosity.
What shakes the couple who have nurtured love for 10 years is not the size of their love but the changed pace of life and reality. Unlike Namgung Ho, who has reached a stable trajectory as a deputy manager at a large company, Lee Mi-do is fighting an unstable future due to a series of project cancellations. Added to this is the pressure from those around them about marriage and the future that becomes unavoidable as they enter their mid-30s. With mentions of marriage from mother Ma Sook-hee (played by Kim Mekyoung) and other differing paces of reality, attention is focused on the choices the two will face.
A Love Other Than Yours delicately traces the things they cannot bring themselves to say because they know each other so well, the peculiar familiarity of long-term relationships, and the fleeting cracks within them.
The production team said, "Namgung Ho and Lee Mi-do are not facing difficulties because their love is lacking, but because they have spent so much time together that they confront more complicated dilemmas," and added, "Please pay attention to the delicate emotional lines the two will reveal in the face of a reality that love alone cannot resolve."
