Singer Ryu Sujeong proves an expanded musical sphere with a new song in which she finds her own light.
Ryu Sujeong released her fourth mini album, ALL THE COLORS I AM, at 6 p.m. on the 11th and abruptly made a comeback by releasing the music video for the title track, "Diamond."
The music video for the title track "Diamond" begins with her shedding glamorous clothes and shoes, leaving only Ryu Sujeong herself and immediately capturing attention. In the sensuous visuals, Ryu Sujeong faces her multifaceted self reflected among shards of a broken mirror and depicts the process of finding her true colors rather than a dressed-up appearance.
Especially notable is the striking direction in which the screen ratio gradually widens as the video progresses, and Ryu Sujeong's image roaming unabashedly through an open space. It leaves an impression by densely portraying a narrative of finding her own light without being confined to a mold.
Her musical transformation also stands out. "Diamond" is a song where psychedelic-textured alternative hip-hop sounds, soulful vocals and a minimal yet addictive melody calmly blend together. The lyrics also intuitively convey a message of believing in oneself and discovering one's value with lines such as "Don't need your bad energy" and "I saw it in the mirror, jewels in my eyes."
The fourth mini album ALL THE COLORS I AM captures Ryu Sujeong's diverse spectrum that cannot be defined by a single color. Ryu Sujeong participated in writing all the songs herself, adding authenticity, and proved her extraordinary passion by unusually producing music videos for all six tracks, including the title song: "Crying to," "Lucky Charms," "shoulda woulda coulda," "Birthday Cake" and "Friendly Fire."
Meanwhile, Ryu Sujeong will make her official promotional start by appearing on MBC's Show! Music Core today (the 12th) at 3:20 p.m., where she will give the first live performance of the new song "Diamond."
