Group Red Velvet member and actress Joy (Park Soo-young) confessed honest anxieties about her team and appearance and opened up about the deepened mindset of turning 30.
On the Nov. 11 broadcast at 10:20 p.m. on KBS 2TV music talk show The Seasons-Sung Si-kyung's Ear Candy, Doh Kyung Soo (D.O.), Joy, BIG Naughty, and Kwon Eun-bi appeared and delivered a variety of performances and lively conversation. Among them, Joy drew attention not only with refreshing energy but also with a heartfelt confession.
Opening the stage in style with the title track of her first solo album, "Hello," Joy revealed the candid feelings she experienced while preparing for Red Velvet's full-group comeback. Joy recalled, "Two years ago was the contract renewal season, and I was really anxious that the group might end like this." But she quickly added, "I confirmed the members' firm resolve, and I wanted to convey that sincerity to the fans," expressing affection for the title track she co-wrote.
She also shared concerns she felt as an entertainer upon turning 30. Joy confessed, "At 29 I was no longer young, and I was very anxious that if I weren't pretty I wouldn't be sought after." But she cheerfully said, "Now that I'm 30, I feel like I'm one year old again," calling herself a "30s baby." Through consistent care recently, Joy transformed into what is known as a "skin-and-bone" figure, attracting attention.
Joy said she is happiest when reading fans' letters and spontaneously sang a heartfelt rendition of her respected senior Park Jung-hyun's "I will write a letter," and she shared the special behind-the-scenes story that she passed her first audition with Park Jung-hyun's "I hope that's how it is now." Recently, Joy, active as actress Park Soo-young, announced nonstop activities including a new drama and a dubbing challenge for an animation, and she closed the stage with Sung Si Kyung by performing the duet "Cocktail Love," showcasing a sweet harmony.
Meanwhile, on the same broadcast Doh Kyung Soo performed "Popcorn," which is climbing the charts again two years after its release, and his new song "Guitarist," while BIG Naughty, who is about to enlist, passionately sang his moving new song "Nostalgia" dedicated to his mother. Kwon Eun-bi also showcased her presence with solo performances of "Underwater" and IZ*ONE's "La Vie en Rose".
