Group Red Velvet member Joy recalled the anxious feelings she had at age 29.
Joy appeared on the KBS2 'The Seasons - Sung Si-kyung's Ear Candy' "Two people" corner that aired on the 11th.
The person who would harmonize in a duet with Sung Si Kyung was Joy. Joy said, "I like all of 'The Seasons,' but 'Sung Si-kyung's Ear Candy' is number one," and added, "More than Jay Park and Park Bo Gum, it's Sung Si Kyung. His seasoned, tasteful hosting and the way he keeps singing every time made me think ordinary people couldn't do it," expressing her respect.
Currently active as an Animal Farm MC, Joy said, "It's been five years since we started working together. Shin Dong-yeob talks a lot about Sung Si Kyung. We do about an hour and a half of script reading, and about an hour of that is catching up on each other's lives. We have a good time, and Sung Si Kyung comes up regularly. He said when he drinks he sings in a sweet voice," she said. Sung Si Kyung laughed and said, "He really says strange things."
Joy, who performed "Goodbye" as the first stage, said, "He willingly allowed the remake." Sung Si Kyung recalled having allowed Joy's remake of "I Wish It Would Be Good" and said, "I thought we would finally sing together, but now I understand. Maybe it's because of experience," which drew laughter.
Having returned as the full Red Velvet group after two years, Joy said about writing the title track alone, "There was a message I wanted to convey while thinking about promotions. Two years ago it was the contract renewal season; some members stayed and others went elsewhere. At that time I was very anxious, but when people heard Red Velvet would promote, they thought of us first. I wanted to share with fans the hope that I realized I had been needlessly anxious," she said.
Joy continued, "After turning 30, everything became okay. I'm 31 now, but at 29 I was anxious. I wondered, 'How will I make a living now?' I worried no one would seek me out if I wasn't young and pretty, but turning 30 felt like a new start. At 30 and 31 it felt like becoming one year old again, so I live with a rejuvenated feeling. I'm in my 30s but I'm a baby," she laughed.
