Ryu Sujeong conducted a release commemorative interview with OSEN on the afternoon of the 8th at a cafe in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, for her fourth mini album "ALL THE COLORS I AM".
This fourth mini album "ALL THE COLORS I AM" is an album that contains Ryu Sujeong's unique, deep inner self that is not confined to a mold. it portrays an honest journey that embraces wounds, becomes stronger over time and seeks her own light.
Ryu Sujeong said she wanted the evaluation she would like to hear about this album to be, "I always liked being evaluated as having a pleasant vibe for Ryu Sujeong's music. I hope that title continues in the future."
She said, "For me to do music for a long time many people have to listen, and for those people solo Ryu Sujeong seems less known than Lovelyz music, so to those audiences it could show a new possibility, another Ryu Sujeong. It's not an overwhelmingly shocking feeling; I hope those encountering me for the first time pick up this album and think 'Ryu Sujeong has a nice vibe' and keep listening," she candidly admitted.
By Korean age, Ryu Sujeong turned 30 this year. what does Ryu Sujeong, now in her 30s, want to show? Ryu Sujeong said, "I tend to think a lot and be emotionally rich. I think I'm more composed in accepting work and emotions than in my 20s. Interestingly, even though I still fluctuate in my 30s, I seem to fluctuate less than in my 20s. I liked that about myself. I think I can show that aspect throughout the album and in the lyrics."
Asked whether there was any part where she struggled between the music she wanted to make and commercial appeal after more than 10 years as a singer, she explained, "Popularity has always been my first priority. I also like that kind of music. So while promoting, each person has different points in their work, and I think that was always a point to reconcile." she added, "I realized while releasing this album that achieving that 100% is difficult."
When asked about a satisfactory target given that popularity is her first priority, Ryu Sujeong said, "The goal I dream of is that to do what I want the album has to do well. To go on any channel or festival, my music has to be doing well." she added, "If there's a festival that invites me, I want to perform at any of them."
When asked if she had a dream festival, she said, "I want to perform at Coachella during the day. I want to present something with the album's texture in an atmosphere where the sun sets and the breeze is cool."
Meanwhile, Ryu Sujeong's fourth mini album "ALL THE COLORS I AM" will be released at 6 p.m. on the 11th.
