Actress Han Go-eun, who previously suffered pain that left her unable to move due to a sudden backache, revealed that this time her husband, Shin Young-soo, had to visit a hospital in a wheelchair because of a herniated disc.
On the 10th, the YouTube channel "Goeununnie Han Go-eun" released a video titled "While filming, my husband called crying. I ended up rushing to the hospital at 4 a.m."
That day Han Go-eun said that just as she was slowly recovering after slipping in the bathroom and suffering a hairline fracture, her husband, Shin Young-soo, collapsed. Han Go-eun said, "As if passing a baton between us, my husband lay down," describing how the couple fell ill one after the other. Shin Young-soo had previously shown symptoms of a herniated disc, and his condition worsened after recent excessive exercise. Han Go-eun said, "As you get older you shouldn't exercise recklessly. My husband seems to have overdone his exercise," and added, "The disc protruded."
The problem was that Han Go-eun was filming in Ilsan at the time. Shin Young-soo first contacted his wife saying, "My back hurts so much I should go to the hospital," but his condition rapidly deteriorated and he entered the hospital in a wheelchair. Recalling the moment, Shin Young-soo said, "The disc ruptured. Radiating pain went down my right leg and it felt somewhat numb," and added, "I went to several hospitals but there was no effect. At another hospital they said I needed an emergency procedure right away."
In the end, Shin Young-soo underwent neuroplasty. But even immediately after the procedure, the pain did not subside easily, and he had difficulty moving alone to drink water. Han Go-eun recalled, "That evening my husband called crying. He said he had the procedure but it hurt so much," She wanted to rush there immediately, but could not leave because filming continued until dawn. She said, "Because I had to keep filming I couldn't properly contact him and couldn't do anything for him, which made me anxious," she said. After finishing filming, Han Go-eun headed to the hospital where her husband was admitted at about 4 a.m., bringing food, water and toiletries.
Because she had experienced such pain herself, Han Go-eun took extra good care of her husband. She gave up her days off to simmer bone broth, washed his hair herself and even dyed his gray hair, caring for him for three days. Shin Young-soo said, "She took such good care of me I was grateful. I sometimes cried," and expressed gratitude, "If my wife hadn't been there I would have been crawling around."
Han Go-eun married Shin Young-soo, who is four years her junior, in April 2015.
