'The owner of a cumulative salary of 20 billion won' commentator Kim Tae Kyun and 'musical world DAEMO Engineering' music director Kim Moon-jung launched an ambitious bid for broadcasting the 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games with witty variety-show-style talk.
On the 11th broadcast of KBS Cool FM's Park Myung Soo's radio show, music director Kim Moon-jung and commentator Kim Tae Kyun, who will serve as KBS commentators for the 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games opening on the 19th, appeared and shared a variety of behind-the-scenes stories and viewing points.
That day, Commissioner Kim Tae Kyun opened with behind-the-scenes stories from his glamorous active career. He, who once owned six supercars, confessed candidly, "At that time I relieved stress by changing cars. Looking back now, I was immature." In response, a listener sent a live testimony text message saying, "If a supercar passed through Daejeon, it was always Kim Tae Kyun," turning the studio into a sea of laughter.
Commissioner Kim Tae Kyun then identified key variables for the South Korea baseball team, which is pursuing a fifth consecutive title. Warning that "Taiwan has many players developed in the U.S., so they cannot be taken lightly," he said, "The medal color will change depending on Kim Do-young's recovery and participation after nasal bone surgery," naming Kim Do-young and pitcher Kwak Bin as the players to watch.
He also showcased chemistry with Commissioner Park Yong-taek, the 'crybaby Taek' with whom he will pair up. Commissioner Kim Tae Kyun said, "If Commissioner Park Yong-taek carefully analyzes the records, I will speak for the players' perspective," and joked, "These days Park seems to be going through menopause and cries more. Even at work he keeps trying to leave photos behind," drawing laughter with his banter.
Meanwhile, Kim Moon-jung, who will handle the opening ceremony commentary, surprised listeners by revealing an unusual past as a keyboard subplayer for the KBS Gag Concert band.
Kim, the director, said her belief was, "Delivering information is important, but at moments when everyone should feel moved, words can be a hindrance. In moments of emotion, I will convey the flow without words." About co-commentator Kangnam she expressed expectations, saying, "He is well versed in Japanese culture and tradition and will bring the scene to life." In response, DJ Park Myung Soo offered pragmatic advice that elicited laughter, saying, "Kangnam is unpredictable, so you absolutely have to rehearse."
Meanwhile, KBS will broadcast live the 2026 Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games, held for 16 days from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4, under the slogan "the moment of becoming one again, Asian Games also KBS."
