On the 10th broadcast, KBS2 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' featured Yano Shiho appearing with her mother. Except for personal YouTube content, this is the first time Yano Shiho's mother has appeared on a Korean broadcast.
That day Yano Shiho spent a special time preparing soft tofu stew herself for her mother, who had never tried Korean stew dishes.
The conversation naturally turned to Yano Shiho's daughter Choo Sa-rang. The topic was the whereabouts of Sa-rang, who had already entered puberty. Yano Shiho wondered whether Sa-rang had shown typical adolescent behavior when she recently visited her grandmother's house. But her mother's answer was unexpected. Her mother praised her granddaughter, saying, "No. She was well-behaved." She boasted that Sa-rang had been very kind to her and "listened to everything I told her."
At this, Yano Shiho expressed hurt, saying, "Is she affectionate only to her grandmother?" She felt a cute sense of betrayal that her daughter, in the midst of adolescence in front of her mother, was a "good granddaughter" to her grandmother. She even confessed, "I'm scared of Sa-rang now," which drew laughter. Then her mother comforted her, saying, "People have faults and virtues. It's okay. puberty will pass."
But the mother-daughter conversation that began with laughter soon turned into a moving story. Yano Shiho said that giving birth to and raising a child made her look back on her own childhood with her mother, and confessed, "I don't have many memories of my mother hugging me when I was young." Hearing this, her mother immediately hugged Yano Shiho tightly. She then said, "I was busy working then," and belatedly expressed feelings she had not been able to show at the time, which made Yano Shiho choke up.
There were circumstances she could not even tell her mother. Because they were an extended family of eight living with three generations, there were many family members to look after. In an interview with the producers, Yano Shiho's mother confessed, "We had a large family. We were an eight-person family," and said, "Before taking care of the children, I felt like it was my responsibility to take care of the other family members. Facing her mother's sincerity for the first time, Yano Shiho also thought of herself and her daughter Sa-rang.
