Beable Company, Dexter Pictures, and Neosheen Entertainment's co-produced global short-form drama 'Mafia King - The ordinary female college student and the mafia's secret contract' unveils itself. Today (the 10th) at 4 p.m., it meets viewers around the world through the global short-form platform ReelShort.
"Mafia King" portrays the dangerous and deadly story that unfolds when ordinary female college student "Eunsoo" becomes entangled with the vast mafia organization "Gio" after an unexpected incident. It is an intense romantic thriller in which two opposing figures — a ruthless mafia member and an ordinary female college student — dig into power and betrayal, revenge, and unavoidable love.
This work draws attention as a veteran production team led by Dexter Pictures director Song Je-young comes together. It is expected to deliver extreme immersion by densely capturing not only the speedy progression and shocking twists characteristic of short-form, but also overwhelming action scenes and subtle emotional lines.
In particular, because it will be released through ReelShort targeting markets around the world including North America, attention is focused on whether it will become a new successful case of K-content's overseas expansion.
Kang Jeong-woo, CEO of Beable Company, which oversaw overall production, said, "We devoted ourselves to localization tailored to the global market as well as the work's completeness," and added, "Starting with the launch of 'Mafia King,' we will aggressively expand global distribution and licensing of Korean-style short-form IP using our AI-based global content distribution platform ShortFlow."
