The group RIIZE is proving its hot local popularity with its third Japanese single "Sunburst," which captures summer sensibility.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 10th, RIIZE's new release "Sunburst" surpassed cumulative shipments of 250,000 copies during August after its Aug. 26 release and earned platinum certification in the gold disc institutional sector, and as of September cumulative shipments exceeded 350,000 copies based on distributor tallies.
Local leading media outlets also shone a spotlight on them. Major TV broadcasts such as Fuji TV's Mezamashi TV, NTV's ZIP!, and TBS's King's Brunch focused extensively on news of their single release. In particular, NTV called RIIZE "the trendsetting boy group leading the front lines of K-pop," and TBS praised them as "the boy group getting the most attention right now," reflecting the high level of local interest.
On the day of the release, RIIZE met fans at an Osaka showcase and performed the title track, whose freewheeling bounce stood out, and spent a special time sharing music video behind-the-scenes talk with about a thousand attendees. In addition, active local promotions have added to fans' enjoyment. Fuji TV's special program #RIIZE VACATION season 2, which drew strong response, is airing every other Friday, and the "サンバーストレイン(선버스트레인)" event across six train lines connecting the sea and a nationwide karaoke brand, JOYSOUND (JOYSOUND), collaboration continue to provide a variety of attractions.
Meanwhile, this single contains three solidly packed tracks: the refreshing house-genre title track "Sunburst," "Rise Over," the theme song for the Japan national high school basketball championship "Winter Cup 2026," and "KILL SHOT," the ending theme for the TV animation "Killblue," offering a glimpse of RIIZE's wide-ranging musical capabilities as they expand in many directions.
