Composer and broadcaster Don Spike expressed his feelings about resuming his restaurant business after about a year of self-reflection.
On the 10th, Don Spike posted on his personal channel, "Four years ago, I spent time reflecting on the mistakes I made and looking back on the life I had lived. It was a precious time to pledge how I will live the rest of my life to avoid repeating the same mistakes," he wrote.
Don Spike added, "Meanwhile, with the help of good people, I am preparing a new start in Gampo, the beautiful seaside of Gyeongju. I will do my best so as not to disappoint the many people who have high expectations and support me."
That day Don Spike revealed the exterior wall of the store overlooking the sea. Sharing an update with the caption "Almost there. Just a few final touches left," Don Spike showed the store exterior bearing the word 'BARBACOA (barbacoa),' referring to a method of slow-cooking meat, along with the phrase 'by donspike,' indicating that he runs the place.
Don Spike was arrested in September 2022 at a motel in Gangnam District, Seoul, on charges of possessing and using drugs, and he admitted all charges in court.
After being sentenced in the first trial to three years in prison with a five-year suspended sentence, the prosecution appealed as the sentence was too light, and in the appellate court he was sentenced to two years in prison. Don Spike's side appealed to the Supreme Court, but the court did not accept it, confirming the prison sentence.
After completing his sentence and being released, Don Spike was reported to have spent time in self-reflection after his release in March last year and to have been involved in managing a restaurant located in Yongsan District, Seoul, and he is preparing to meet the public again by opening a store bearing his name.
Don Spike debuted in 1996 as a composer and singer. He became known for arranging stages on I Am a Singer and was active on various variety shows such as My Little Old Boy.
