Woo Seoyoon, crowned the winner of the 70th Miss Korea, gave a joint interview with her father, Woo Jiwon.
The episode of SBS' Morning Wide that aired on the 7th featured Woo Seoyoon and Woo Jiwon discussing her Miss Korea win and other topics.
Arriving first at the interview location, Woo Seoyoon teasingly said, "I was supposed to meet my dad, but he usually is a bit bad at keeping time, so today is no exception," giving him a gentle ribbing.
Woo Jiwon, who arrived late, proudly introduced his daughter, saying, "I am former national basketball player Woo Jiwon, and now I am Woo Jiwon, the father of 2026 Miss Korea winner Woo Seoyoon," and added, "When Woo Seoyoon's name was called I felt a shiver. Like when I hit a go-ahead 3-pointer, I suddenly shouted so loudly that my teammates nearby were surprised. I was deeply moved."
Woo Seoyoon said, "Even at the moment my name was called I couldn't really believe it. In fact, not only when I was young but even up until I started preparing for the Miss Korea contest, being tall was my biggest complex, and I often said, 'I am this tall because of my dad.'"
To this, Woo Jiwon laughed and said, "If someone asks, I can't talk about Seoyoon's height. I'm too self-conscious," and Woo Seoyoon said, "While preparing for the Miss Korea contest I actually tried on very high heels, so I really think my tall height is a major advantage. So I'm sorry for the past and grateful that you passed on your height to me."
At 193 cm, Woo Jiwon, and at 175 cm, Woo Seoyoon. As Woo Jiwon's eyes became moist after hearing the words 'thank you' for the first time in 24 years, footage was also shown of Woo Jiwon holding the newborn Woo Seoyoon. Woo Jiwon said, "Wasn't it the first day I met her in the world? It's an unforgettable day. She grew up so well," and added, "After becoming Miss Korea, I've been busy. Sometimes a reply went beyond a day and the next day had already begun." Woo Seoyoon, saying, "I saw (this video) for the first time," looked moved.
Woo Seoyoon replied, "I'm so grateful that my dad always watched over me and cheered me on so I could keep trying without giving up. I will try to be a daughter you can be proud of."
Meanwhile, after being named Miss Korea, Woo Seoyoon was embroiled in speculation over plastic surgery. Footage of her appearing on variety shows as a child resurfaced, raising suspicions that the change in her face was not simply due to dieting. Woo Seoyoon has not yet made any formal statement on the matter.
