The two have long been known as avid readers, and Ko Myung Hwan in particular wrote and published his seventh book while writing himself.
They exchanged views on reading original-language books. Jung Seon-hee said of her reading method, "I read aloud," adding, "When reading original-language texts, inversion helps because following it leads to a three-dimensional reading." In response, Ko Myung Hwan said, "In English, what readers can follow is that the predicate comes after the subject. But in our language, the object comes after the subject. When I spoke Korean with inversion, my wife was embarrassed," he said. Looking at that close friend, Jung Seon-hee said, "She must have thought he married a madman. Our Ji-eun must have had a hard time," expressing sympathy for Ko Myung Hwan's wife.
